Every French noun is masculine or feminine: un café (m), une eau (f), des croissants (plural). Learn the article with the word, never alone.

un thé, une bière, des frites — a tea (m), a beer (f), some fries (pl)

"Je voudrais" is the polite form of "je veux". Same idea as "I would like" instead of "I want". Use it to order, ask, and request anything.

Je voudrais réserver une table. — I would like to book a table.

Je voudrais un renseignement. — I would like some information.
